BNSI hosts for the second time a training course for young statisticians from the Balkan region

For a second consecutive year the National statistical institute hosts a training course for young statisticians from the Western Balkan countries - Albania, Bosna and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, the Republic of North Macedonia and Serbia. Their Bulgarian colleagues also participate in the training course. It is organized jointly with the Centre for Statistical Research in the University of National and World Economy - Sofia in the period 30 September - 5 October 2019 at the NSI’s Training and Qualification Centre in Slivek, Lovech Region.

The third training course for young statisticians from six countries has concluded

For a third consecutive year the National Statistical Institute of the Republic of Bulgaria(NSI) successfully hosted a training course for 24 young statisticians from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine (four representatives from each country), within the framework of the Development Assistance Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

111 years since the Declaration of Independence of Bulgaria

The Independence Day was declared an official celebration day by a decision of the National Assembly of September 10, 1998.

With this historic event, Bulgaria becomes an ‘equal member in the family of civilized peoples’ and opens up new opportunities for economic and cultural progress.

On the night of September 22, 1908, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Alexander Malinov, met Prince Ferdinand near the Ruse town and together with the Government members went to Tarnovo. Malinov prepared a manifesto for independence, which was signed by Ferdinand and the ministers.

September 22 - Day without cars

The European Car-free Day campaign aims at reduction of noise and harmful emissions into the air and improvement of the quality of life in large cities.

For the first time, the Day without cars was celebrated in 1998 in France. On this day, the central zones of many large cities in Europe are closed to motor traffic.

The National Statistical Institute is the host of the training course for twenty-four young statisticians from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, organised jointly with the Centre for Statistical Studies at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) – Sofia for a third consecutive year. The training is conducted within the framework of of the Development Assistance Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Experts from NSI train Ukrainian statisticians in the field of education statistics

From 9 to 13 September, experts from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine are on a visit for training at the National Statistical Institute.

The purpose of the training is to be shared Bulgarian statisticians’ experience in organizing and conducting surveys in the field of educational statistics, with a focus on Lifelong Learning and adult education and training.

The 2nd of August - International Beer Day

International Beer Day is a celebration on the first Friday of August, founded in the USA in 2007. The motto of the day is “Drink good beer with good friends”.

According to historians beer appeared in about 10 000 BC, when cereal was first farmed. In 1516, a Beer Purity Law came into force in Germany, according to which only water, barley and hops should be used for its production.

July 26 - System Administrator Day

As a token of appreciation and respect for the work of System Administrators who supports electronic networks and systems, since 2000, at the initiative of American computer specialist Ted Kekatos, the last Friday of July has been celebrated as the day of System Administrator.

They say the system administrator's job is like that of a doctor - if all organs work normally, nobody is looking for him, but if they stop working, everyone is asking him for help.
