The 2021 National Statistical Programme foresees 316 statistical surveys

The teams of the National Statistical Institute and the Bodies of statistics will conduct a total of 316 surveys, according to the 2021 National Statistical Programme.

At its regular meeting on January 6, 2021, the Council of Ministers adopted the National Statistical Programme, as well as the Report on the implementation of the National Statistical Programme and on the activities of the National Statistical Institute in 2020.

Results of the project 'BG - Action Plan for SILC Improvements'

The National Statistical Institute has completed the work on the project "BG - Action Plan for SILC Improvements" – for the action entitled Objective 1 “Timeliness of EU-SILC” and Objective 3 “Tests for EU-SILC revision”, according to the Grant Agreement with the European Commission № 829212-2018 -BG-ACTION PLAN SILC.

The project lasted for 20 months in the period November 2018 - July 2020.

The general project objectives were adapting the production process and the use of the administrative data, including preliminary income register data.

On 25th June 1880 by virtue of the Decree № 296, issued by Prince Alexander I, the Statistical Department at the Ministry of Finance was established and in the next year the department grew into an independent Statistical Bureau. Hereby, the foundations of the state statistical institution in Bulgaria were laid down.

The National Statistical Institute Is Changing Its Organization of Work

In order to ensure the health and safety of its employees, respondents and users and in relation to the measures taken to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the National Statistical Institute is changing its organization of work.

Surveys and respondents

The National Statistical Institute suspended surveys, which are conducted via direct personal contact with the population and face-to-face interviews.

The NSI is extending the deadlines for submissions of annual activity reports for 2019

Considering the adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Law on measures and actions during state of emergency Act, the deadline for submission of annual activity reports for legal units and natural persons (sole proprietors) and for enterprises without activity for 2019 is extended until 30th June 2020.

The deadline for submission of consolidated annual activity report for enterprises is extended until 30th September 2020.

The NSI is suspending surveys conducted via interviewers

The National Statistical Institute is suspending surveys conducted via direct personal contact with the population until the end of March. The visitations and observations on commercial retail establishments, related to surveys on consumer prices is also suspended for the same period. The reason is the epidemiological situation in Bulgaria and the health safety measures taken to contain the spread of the Coronavirus taken by the government and the National Assembly.
