Between 10 and 12 October 2018 in Bucharest, Romania, the President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky and Deputy President Diana Yancheva will participate in the 104^th Annual Conference of the Directors General of the National Statistical Institutes (DGINS) and the 38^th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC).

For the second time, the National Statistical Institute hosts a training of 24 young statisticians from the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Republic of Ukraine organized jointly with the Centre for Statistical Studies at the University of National and World Economy - Sofia. The training is carrying out in the framework of the Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria ‘Building of Administrative capacity and democratic institutions’. 

In the period 19 - 21 September 2018, the National Statistical Institute hosted a three-day training course where experts from ‘Consumer prices, Housing prices and Purchasing Power Parities’ Department introduced their colleagues from the State Statistical Office of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia with Bulgarian experience in the field of Harmonized Indices of Consumer Prices.

On August 30, 2018, an informal meeting of the Heads of Statistical offices of the countries of Balkan region was held at the Training center of the National Statistical Institute in the village of Slivek, Lovech region upon the invitation of the President of the NSI, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarski.

In the period 12-13 July 2018, the National Statistical Institute hosted a population census training for experts from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia. The visit of Serbian statisticians was in connection with the preparations for the population census in the Republic of Serbia in 2021.

The National Statistical Institute of the Republic of Bulgaria and the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus (Belstat) signed an Agreement on the cooperation in the field of statistics on July 19, 2018 in Minsk, Belarus. Mr. Sergey Tsvetarski, President of the National Statistical Institute signed the Agreement on behalf of Bulgaria and Mrs. Inna Medvedeva, Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee signed the Agreement on behalf of Belarus.

On July 16, 2018, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarski, President of the NSI, met with Dr. Jane Muita – the newly-appointed UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria.

The National Statistical Institute held an information meeting with the central media where the start of the preparation for the 18^th population and housing census in the Republic of Bulgaria was announced.

National Statistical Institute releases updated population projection up to 2080. A starting point of the projection is the population as of 31.12.2016, and the projection takes into account the number of demographic events in 2017. The projected population is distributed by sex and single ages for every year of the projected period. Data is published by five-year age groups and calendar periods. The population projection by districts and sex up to 2080 is also updated.

 

On 26 June 2018 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky officially handed over the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics to the Director General of Statistics Austria Dr. Konrad Pesendorfer.
