According to the seasonally adjusted data, the GDP growth rate in the fourth quarter of 2013 is 1.2% compared with the same quarter of the previous year.

Producer Price Index on Domestic Market in January 2014 remained at the level of the previous month, while compared to the same month of 2013 the domestic prices fell by 2.0%. Total Producer Price Index increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month, while compared to the same month of 2013 the prices fell by 2.4%. 

In February 2014 the total business climate indicator preserves its level from the previous month. The inquiries report an improvement of the indicator in industry (by 1.5 percentage points) and construction (by 2.7 percentage points), and a decrease in retail trade and service sector (by 2.1 and 3.0 percentage points respectively).

In January 2014, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 272.5 thousand or by 2.3% above the registered in January 2013. The trips with other purposes (as guest, education and visit the cultural and sport events) composed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 52.8%, followed by the trips with holiday and recreation purposes - 25.9%, and with professional purpose - 21.3%.

In January 2014, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 368.1 thousand which was by 4.7% above the level of January 2013. An increase was registered in the visits with other purposes and holiday and recreation purpose - by 8.9 and 5.3% respectively, while these with professional purpose decreased by 5.7%.

According to preliminary data during the fourth quarter of 2013 in comparison with the same period of 2012 was observed an increase by 11.6% in the transported goods by land and water transport, while the transport performance has fallen by 7.3%.

Compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year both the number of transported passengers and the transport performance by land, water and urban electrical transport have fallen by 9.2% and 6.0%, respectively. 

In the fourth quarter of 2013, 685.4 thousand Bulgarian residents made tourist trips. The majority (80.7%) of them travelled only within the country, 16.3% - only abroad and 3.0% - both in the country and abroad. Compared to the same quarter of 2012 the total number of the travelled persons aged 15 and over decreased by 1.0%, as a reduction was observed in the number of the Bulgarian residents travelled in the country - by 3.8%, while the number of persons travelled abroad increased by 16.5%.

According to preliminary data from the fourth quarter of 2013 the total turnover index for section “Transportation, storage and post”, calculated on the basis of seasonally adjusted data reduced by 7.0% from the previous quarter. In section „Information and communication” the turnover index decreased by 3.0%.

The average quarterly total income average per household member during the fourth quarter of 2013 is 1228 BGN or by 6.1% more compared to the same quarter of 2012.

The total expenditure per household member during the fourth quarter of 2013 is 1136 BGN and it increases by 7.4% in relation to the same quarter of 2012.

The consumption of main food products average per capita doesn’t change vastly during the fourth quarter of 2013 compared to the fourth quarter of 2012.

In the fourth quarter of 2013 the unemployment rate was 13.0%, and the employment rate of population aged 15 - 64 was 59.6%.

According to the preliminary data of the NSI, the consumer price index in January 2014 compared to December 2013 was 99.8%, i.e. the monthly inflation was -0.2%.
