A delegation from the Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan on a visit to the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria

A delegation from the Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will be on a five-day visit in the National Statistical Institute from 1 June to 5 June 2015.

The visit will be held within the framework of the Twinning Project funded by World Bank and implemented by a consortium between the Federal Statistical Office of Germany and the Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

High Level Seminar on Quality in Statistics

Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union, is organising a High Level Seminar for the Eastern European, Caucasus and Central Asian Countries (EECCA), entitled ‘Quality in Statistics: The National Statistical System’ which will take place on 1 - 3 June 2015 in Riga, Latvia - the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU in this period.

The seminar is aimed for the top management of the National Statistical Institutes of the EECCA countries and is dedicated to two main topics:

NSI experts are consulting statisticians from Kosovo in the field of Statistics on Information Society

In relation to a request for technical assistance by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics NSI experts from ‘R&D, Innovation and Information Society’ Department NSI will provide training in the field of Statistics on Information Society. The expert mission is going to take place within the period 26 - 28 May 2015 in Pristine.

The colleagues from Kosovo will be aware of Bulgarian experience in the implementation of European legislation in the field of statistics on the information society.

Meeting of the European Statistical System Committee

On 20 and 21 May 2015 in Eurostat, Luxembourg, the 25th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) will be held and the President of the National Statistical Institute, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, will take part. This is the second meeting for the year out of four regular annual ESSC meetings.

120 years statistics on education in Bulgaria

After the Liberation the educational cause was important for the young Bulgarian State, which required the introduction of specialized statistical surveys. To meet the need for information on the educational system in 1895 Statistical Office, whose successor is the National Statistical Institute, introduced the first periodic reporting in the country - "Statistics of the schools in the Principality of Bulgaria". Object of observation were children subject of mandatory initial training, students from different types of schools, school buildings, the budget of schools.
