Meeting of the National Statistical Council

On 4 June 2014, under the chairmanship of Prof. Hristina Vucheva was held a meeting of the National Statistics Council (NSC), which is the highest advisory body in the field of statistics at the national level.

The meeting will focus on presentation and discussion of the Annual Work Program for 2015 of the European Union (Annual Work Programme 2015) and the planned negative priorities. Information about the meeting of the European Statistical System Committee, held on 14^th and 15^th May 2014 in Luxembourg, was also presented.

The National Statistical Institute has launched a project under OPAC for building a system for quality management

On the 7^th of April 2014 the National Statistical Institute started the implementation of a project entitled: “Improving the quality of services for citizens and businesses, establishment and implementation of clear, credible and unified procedures for development of electronic services through the implementation of a system for quality management according to the ISO 9001:2008 standard”. The project is being implemented by a contract № 13-31-20/07.04.2014, between the NSI and the Ministry of Finance, Managing Authority of the Operational Programme “Administrative Capacity”.

Agreement for cooperation and strategic partnership in the exchange of information between NSI and BAS

The Acting President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky and the Director of the Economic Research Institute at BAS Prof. Dr. Mitko Dimitrov signed on May 29, 2014 Annex to the Agreement on cooperation and strategic partnership in the exchange of information between the National Statistical Institute and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Acting President of the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, will participate in the 21^th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC), which will be held in the premises of Eurostat in Luxembourg on 14 and 15 May 2014. This is the second out of four ESSC meetings for the calendar year, chaired by Eurostat and attended by the Heads of National Statistical Offices of the Member States and representatives of EFTA countries, ECB and OECD.

The Council of Ministers appointed Sergey Tsvetarsky as Acting President of the NSI

By Order № KB - 179 of 25.04.2014, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky - Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute, was appointed acting president of the National Statistical Institute.

Mr. Tsvetarsky is a graduate of the University of National and World Economy - Sofia. In his career in 1982, Mr. Tsvetarsky has held various expert and management positions at the NSI.

During his professional career Mr. Tsvetarsky has been involved in numerous projects of national and international significance.

In the period April-June 2014 NSI will conduct a survey on “Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2014”

In April, the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria launches the conducting of the survey on “Social Inclusion and Living Conditions 2014”.

Regulation 1177/2003 of the European Parliament and the Council establishes a common framework for systematic production of statistics in the European Union on Income and Living Conditions (hereinafter EU-SILC), which include comparable and timely information on current status and dynamics of income as well as the level and structure of poverty and social exclusion at national and European level.

The NSI President Reneta Indjova, Ph.D. will participate in two Statistical Fora in Paris

On 7 and 8 April 2014 in Paris, France, the 11^th Meeting of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy (CSSP) will take place. With a Decision of the Council of Ministers as of 27 January 2011, the President of the National Statistical Institute is designated to represent the Republic of Bulgaria as an ad hoc observer during the meetings of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy. In the framework of the 11^th meeting issues related to the economic growth and the measurement of well-being and progress will be discussed.
