In the second quarter of 2009 there were 3 015 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed places. The total number of the nights spent in the second quarter of 2009 in all accommodation establishments fell by 747.8 thousand (16.4%) as compared to the same period of 2008.

According to the preliminary data of National Statistical Institute (NSI) the number of employees under labour contract at the end of June 2009 decreased by 0.4% as compared to the end of March 2009 and reached to 2.4 millions. In second quarter of 2009 in comparison with the first quarter of 2009 the average monthly wages and salaries grew by 4.4% getting 588 levs.

In June 2009, the total production in construction rose by 10.6% compared to the previous month. The building construction increased by 9.6%, while the growth in the civil engineering was 12.4%.

The preliminary data showed that the Industrial Production Index decreased by 18.7% in June 2009 as compared to June 2008 and increased by 6.9% as compared to the previous month.

The regular consumer survey carried out by the National Statistical Institute in July 2009 shows an increase of 5.5 percentage points of the total consumer confidence indicator as the increase in “confidence” is relatively higher for the rural population - a rise of the indicator of 6.4 percentage points in comparison with 5.0 percentage points for the urban population.

Producer Price Index on Domestic Market in June 2009 increased by 0.2 per cent compared to May 2009, compared to the same month of 2008 decreased by 5.1 per cent. Total Producer Price Index increased by 0.5 per cent compared with May 2009, compared to May 2008 decreased by 7.3 per cent.

In July 2009 the total business climate indicator decreases by 1.2 percentage points in comparison with the previous month due to the negative development of the business conjuncture in industry and retail trade.

The number of the trips of Bulgarian residents travelling abroad was 485 892 in June 2009, which was 10.8% less than the number of the trips in June 2008.
The number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 957 271 in June 2009, or 12.7% less than the number of trips in the same month of 2008.

In June 2009 the goods carried by the railway transport increased by 4.9% in comparison with the previous month, while in comparison with June 2008 a drop by 40.3% is registered. The decrease of the passengers carried in the passenger transport is 4.7%, while in comparison with the same month of the previous year it is by - 10.3%.

Preliminary data for May 2009 indicated that construction production was 10.4% below the level in April 2009.
