Population and Demographic Processes in 2020

As of 31 December 2020 the population of Bulgaria is 6 916 548 persons. Compared to 2019, the population decreases by 34 934 persons.

There are 59 086 live born children in 2020. The number of live births decreases by 2 452 compared to the previous year.

The number of deaths in 2020 is 124 735 and the crude mortality rate - 18.0‰. Compared to the previous year the number of deaths icreases by 16 652.

Turnover Indices in 'Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles' in February 2021

According to the preliminary seasonally adjusted data in February 2021 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices increased by 3.0% compared to the previous month. The working day adjusted turnover fell by 0.5% as compared to the same month of the previous year.

Construction Production Indices in February 2021

According to the preliminary data, in February 2021 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the base of seasonally adjusted data was 0.2% above the level of the previous month. In February 2021 the working day adjusted index of production in construction decreased by 4.2% in comparison with the same month of 2020.

Production and Deliveries of Energy Products, January 2021

In January 2021 compared to December 2020 an increase is reported for the production of liquefied petroleum gases - by 20.0% and electricity - by 6.9%. A decrease is reported for the production of solid fuels - by 17.9%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 6.7% and transport diesel - by 13.3%. No change for the production of natural gas.

In January 2021 compared to December 2020 an increase is reported for the deliveries of unleaded motor gasoline - by 12.9% and electricity - by 4.5%. A decrease is reported for the deliveries of solid fuels - by 17.1%, liquefied petroleum gases - by 9.4%, transport diesel - by 21.4% and natural gas - by 0.8%.

Trips of Bulgarian Residents Abroad and Arrivals of Visitors from Abroad to Bulgaria in February 2021

In February 2021, during the continuing epidemic situation in the country, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 215.3 thousand, or by 46.3% under the registered in February 2020.

In February 2021, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 240.9 thousand or by 52.6% less in comparison with February 2020.
